Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre Named Recipient of Annual Paint Giveaway
VICTORIA, BC (FEBRUARY 11, 2011) – White Knight Painting Ltd. announced today the recipient of their Third Annual Charity Paint Giveaway. Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre will receive a new look with $3,000 worth of White Knight Painting’s donated painting and repair services. Work will commence by the end of the February.
Liz Bloomfield, Executive Director of the Centre, says, “We are thrilled! Our Centre is a beautiful heritage building but it’s time for a facelift. Fresh new paint in our hallways, clothing room and class rooms will make it glow again and reflect our Centre’s philosophy of a warm and welcoming place where all single parents can gather and find support.”
Over the holidays, White Knight Painting encouraged the public to nominate deserving people and organizations for their Annual Charity Paint Giveaway. White Knight Painting accepted nominations for individuals, families and organizations that had rooms and/or offices with tired, outdated paint and needed a helping hand to freshen the decor.
“We really appreciate the input of the community because it opens our eyes to people and organizations that might otherwise be overlooked for an opportunity such as this,” says Bob Fuchs, President of White Knight Painting.
Past winners include The Cridge Brain Injury Program in 2009 and The Cridge Transition House for Women in 2010.
Helen Taylor from Soroptimist International of Greater Victoria nominated the Centre for the giveaway, writing that, “The Centre relies on volunteers and welcomes donations to help maintain their commitments. The home-like setting and relaxed environment offers no frills, out of necessity. How the staff would love to have fresh paint in some of the rooms to further enhance and warm the environment for their clients… It is a luxury they would not normally consider in their annual budgeting.”
Bloomfield is thankful for the support. “Without Soroptimist International, we wouldn’t have received this. They are wonderful supporters who believe in our work, and we’re so thankful,” she says. “This wonderful gift from White Knight Painting lets single parents know that our community cares about them and supports them in the most important job in the world – raising healthy, happy children.”
