The Winner is….. Goward House
Thank you to everyone who put in nominations this year. We have spent the last month reviewing the different nominees. At the end of January we visited our top three. After much deliberation we have chosen the Goward House for our Charity Paint Give-Away. We appreciate the time and effort nominees put into our visit and we look forward to them trying again next year.
Let me tell you about the Goward house. The home is a registered heritage home built in 1908. Later it became a centre for adults in 1989. The Society relies heavily on volunteers and they only employ 3 people. Last year volunteers put in over 8000 hours between 80 people. This Goward house supplies the 50+ community with many activities and social events giving them a positive atmosphere and creating a place to meet.
In the coming months we will be starting painting on their recreation centre. After many years of use the paint is becoming very worn out and will benefit greatly from out Charity Paint Give-Away. This social hub is used for many activities from fitness classes to strawberry teas. They also rent it out at night and weekends as a venue for anything from birthdays to meditation workshops. This helps to provide a revenue stream to keep the Goward House running smoothly.
Keep an eye out for the before/after pictures and to hear about how everything went!
